The 2026 Negeri Sembilan State Election followed the 2023 state election, in which the PH–BN alliance won 31 of 36 seats and Aminuddin Harun of PKR continued as Menteri Besar. In 2026, a dispute over the status of Undang of Sungei Ujong and the Yang di-Pertuan Besar escalated into a broader political crisis. Fourteen UMNO assembly members later withdrew support from Aminuddin, and Pakatan Harapan called for a fresh mandate through an early election. The snap poll was widely seen as an attempt to reset the state government after months of instability.
Major issues in the 2026 Negeri Sembilan State Election included the royal crisis, Malay-Muslim political identity, and voter dissatisfaction with the PH-led state and federal governments. Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional cooperated informally in several constituencies, while Pakatan Harapan campaigned on its “8123” target of winning 23 seats. High-profile contests included Chennah, where federal DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke lost to BN’s Siow Kong Choon, and Linggi, where incumbent Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun was defeated after moving from Sikamat.
