DIFFERENT TYPES OF VOTING
With the general elections just around the corner, there's no doubt that people will be making time to vote for the future of our country. Sometimes due to certain circumstances, a citizen of our country may be qualified to vote in ways not available to the average citizen. So, let's get to know more about the different types of voting available to us:
Voters are allowed to vote early.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Military
Military officers and their spouses
Police
Members of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and their spouses


Media
Members of the General Operations Force (PGA) and their spouses
POSTAL VOTING
Here is a too long; didn’t read of everything you need know about postal voting and where you stand.
- Policemen and soldiers who are on duty during the voting period.
- Media workers on duty during the voting period.
- Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Malaysia (SPR) staffs and election attendants.
*Note: These individuals are required to manually fill in Form 1A to opt for postal voting.
- All Malaysian nationals overseas who are eligible to vote.

- Members of 9 Government Agencies in health and safety sector.

- Government officials as well as students in higher education institutions who are residents abroad and registered under Pengundi Tidak Hadir (PTH) abroad, do not need to apply for a postal ballot because they are automatically registered as postal voters.

When is Advance Voting conducted?
Advance polling is usually held at least three to four days at police stations and military camps before the polling day.
Who is eligible for Postal Voting?
- All Malaysian nationals living overseas.
- Election Commission (EC) employees, poll workers, policemen and soldiers not eligible for early voting.
- Other categories gazetted by the EC, such as media workers.
When will postal voters receive their ballot papers?
The EC will start distributing ballot papers to postal voters as soon as they are printed. The ballot papers sent to postal voters are the same as the ones used by regular voters on polling day.
When must postal voters return their marked ballot papers?
Postal voters must return their marked ballot papers to the Office of the Returning Officer by 6pm on polling day.
