DAP National Chairman Karpal Singh on friday insisted, PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim state his stand on hudud law and Islamic state pursued by PAS, their ally in the three-party opposition pact.
He said, it was incumbent upon Datuk Seri Anwar to clearly voice out his stand on the two controversial and critical issues.
KARPAL SINGH / DAP NATIONAL CHAIRMAN
"(What is DSAI's stand on this?) I'm afraid you got to ask him, I can only speak on behalf of DAP and cannot go beyond that. Our stand has been very clear. (Do you think he should state his stand?) Yes he should, on the public interest he should. He should explain I think, the public expects it, even Kit Siang and Guan Eng has stated it, they are not for hudud and Islamic state".
Karpal said he was stating DAP's stand not only as his personal stand but also on the party's behalf.
PAS Deputy Spiritual Adviser Datuk Dr Haron Din had said recently the party was firm in implementing hudud law if the opposition pact was mandated to form the next government.
However, Karpal opposed, saying DAP was against the formation of an Islamic state, which enforced hudud law.
