Police have warned that candidates contesting in the upcoming elections have to avoid giving hate speeches which can flare up supporters' emotions and sentiments.
According to Deputy Head of the IGP Secretariat (Public Relations) ACP Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf, it would be better for politicians to speak on policy matters instead of fanning hatred that could lead to more serious repercussions.
On claims that PAS would be organising Ops Harimau Belang to intimidate voters, ACP Ramli said the public should inform the police immediately if such a thing occurs.
Last Sunday, a letter, allegedly issued by PAS Election Central Committee secretary, A. Shakor M Tahir, requested the cooperation of "'PAS members familiar with Umno to attend a meeting on March 10."
The meeting is alledged to discuss ways to intimidate supporters of other parties.
