250 Parti Keadilan Rakyat, PKR members from the Gombak branch quit the party and threw their support behind UMNO citing loss of confidence in PKR's leadership.
The group, led by the PKR's former Gombak Branch Deputy Chairman Abu Bakar Ninggal and committee member Mazlan Abdul Rashid, said they were upset at the party leaders, whothey claimed had abandoned their principle of justice and now seemed to be championing a personal agenda.
Abu Bakar said the members left PKR because they realised that they had been fooled by the leaders promises, especifically its de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and deputy president Azmin Ali.
The group submitted thier Umno membership forms to Selangor Umno deputy chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar during a gathering at Batu 10, Gombak last night.
The former PKR members believe that only UMNO and Barisan Nasional are capable of defending the rights of the people because of their excellent track records.
