#prnsarawak Now that the campaign period has kicked off, the flag war is also on, as the contesting parties try to outdo each other to grab voters' attention.

On the first night of campaigning, the political parties started to deploy their election machinery, to put up campaign materials which also adds colour to the election fever.

Among the earliest to put up their party flags, posters and banners, around town, were BN and DAP.

Party workers were seen moving around in trucks and lorries stopping by roadsides and invading roundabouts.

T-shirts and hats were also distributed to the component's party headquarters and operational rooms.

The state election will see 226 candidates contesting for 80 seats, after two seats were won uncontested by BN.
