The Inspector General of Police said the Sarawak state election campaign which started on Monday, has progressed smoothly without any untoward incidents.

Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said to date, police have opened investigations on 23 of the 32 reports received.

Speaking of the 20 areas that have been identified as hotspots, the top cop said the situation in the areas, was under control due to close monitoring from the police.

He added that the presence of policemen in the areas has also averted any untoward incidents.

About seven thousand policemen have been mobilised for the 11th Sarawak state election.

Out of the total amount, one thousand officers are from the General Operations Force.
