Sarawak Chief Minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem, announced that the state cabinet had agreed to reduce the assessment tax rate in the state.

The agreement was reached at the cabinet meeting on March 31.

He announced this after launching Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, PBB party machinery for Asajaya, Muara Tuang and Stakan state seats at Dewan Suarah Kota Samarahan today.

However, he did not give details on how the reduction would be carried out and when it would take effect.

Last week, Tan Sri Adenan had announced the abolishing of quit rent for land from the middle of next month.

This is to help alleviate the burden of the poor, especially those in the rural areas.
